Lesson 2: Psychic Protection 


All of us would like to believe that humanity is basically good and loving, however, we cannot ignore the fact that there is also a large amount of negativity and evil in the world bombarding us everyday. Most of this negativity goes on without our knowledge and yet, it still affects us. In order to function and survive in this world today, we must learn to protect ourselves from negative forces.

You have heard stories of people being physically attacked and maybe robbed, beaten or raped, but there is another type of attack that most of us are not even aware of. It's the most serious crime of robbery imaginable. The predator robs us of our life force, sometimes a large amount at once, leaving us to feel weak and defeated, sometimes a little at a time, draining us of our energy reserves and leaving us wondering why we feel so tired all the time. If a mugger robbed you on the street, wouldn't you want to take a self-defense class to learn to protect yourself? You must have this attitude with energy robbery also.

If you are a healer, whether you do Reiki, acupuncture or chiropractic work, or you are a teacher, counselor or spiritual worker or do any type of work in the helping professions, it is important to learn to protect yourself from negativity in order to keep your self from being drained by your clients and students. If you have ever worked with a client or spent time with anyone and felt drained, exhausted, and emotionally spent afterwards, you need psychic protection. Many healers or intuitive to have reached a plateau in their healing or psychic abilities and they are not improving their skills. Adding psychic protection to your daily spiritual practice will help you realize your goals and lead you to higher states of consciousness. It may seem like an indirect way to become a better healer or more psychic but time and time again these techniques have worked wonders. Once you incorporate the following exercises into your daily spiritual practice, you will see a considerable improvement in your skills and life in general.

Life Energy

To explain how psychic protection can work for you, we will begin our discussion by explaining the basics. Everyone and everything in the universe is surrounded by an energy field called an aura. Clairvoyants can see this energy field as rainbow layers of light in the shape of an oval, somewhat to like an egg shell surrounding each and everyone of us. Our aura protects us from outside influences. Running along the spine and connected it to this aura are subtle funnel shaped whirlpools of spinning energy called chakras. We each have seven major chakras which connect us to the universe, allowing us to exchange energy, drawing energy in from the universe and sending energy out.

Our energy field interacts with the energy field of those around us. Our thoughts and emotions affect not only our own energy field but also the person we are thinking about whether this person is physically near us or not. If you doubt this, consider a time when you were thinking of someone and they called you at that same time, or was there ever a time when you had a craving for a certain food and the person next to you felt the same craving? Did you ever know when someone was going to knock at your door? In these instances, you are subconsciously sensing their aura. Or you could say, you are reading their mind. In this course, you have learned how the power of your thoughts can get you what you want if directed in the proper way. Every time someone has a negative thought about you it will affect you, no matter where they are when they are having that thought. If you know anyone who would think about you this way, realize they are affecting your energy.

Do you know someone who is experiencing jealousy, hatred, resentment, or envy? Or, perhaps you know someone who is just plain critical or looks down on you at times? They are affecting your energy field in a negative way. The only defense against this is to learn how to protect yourself from negative thoughts. You can also have an effect on your own energy Field by excessive worry and other negative emotions.

Usually our aura will protect us fairly well from outside influences, however, our lifestyle may cause our aura to weaken and leave us open to negative influences.

Reasons for a weak aura

  • Any type of emotional or physical trauma can cause holes in the aura.

  • Years of eating refined sugars, alcohol, drugs, caffeine, or over eating.

  • Lack of exercise and sunshine.

  • Nature deprivation.

  • Overwork, especially in an unhealthy stressful work environment.

  • Lack of balance in your life. Balancing work, play, rest, and mental activity.

  • Electromagnetic waves from microwaves, cell phones, computers, televisions, alarm clocks, and any other electronic devices.

  • Being around negative, critical, high stressed people.

  • Anyone that you have had an argument with.

  • Anyone thinking a bad thought about you regardless of where they are at that time or if they are aware they are doing it.

People with a weak aura will drain you of your life energy like a vampire feeding on its victim or a vulture feeding on its prey. This gives them the energy to go on while making you weak. Many times they are not even aware they are doing this to you. Also, an unprotected energy Field is a huge block to developing your psychic or healing skills. Most spiritually minded people are amazed how they're psychic and healing abilities improve after incorporating psychic protection as part of their routine.

If you suffer from the following and there is no medical explanation to explain your symptoms, you may be a victim of an energy attack or a weakened aura:

Nightmares

Night sweats

Nervous exhaustion

Fears

Tired all the time

Excessive worry

Headaches

Paranoia

Guilt

Constipation

Insomnia

A sensation of heaviness

Loss of stamina

Unexplained depression, moodiness

Irritability

Fatigue

Clumsiness

A feeling that everything goes wrong

Anxiety attacks for no apparent reason

Feelings of inferiority

Lack of motivation

Inability to concentrate

Accident prone

A feeling of impeding doom or suicidal thoughts

Protection

There our many methods for protection. Not all methods work for all people. In this course you'll find the method or combination of methods that are most effective for you and for the situation you are in.

If an energy robber is in your presence they can literally scoop out some of your energy and take it with them. It's disturbing to think about that it's very similar to taking a pint of your blood. If you lose a pint of your blood your body has to compensate for it, and until it does, you will feel a bit drained until your body replenishes itself. When someone steals your energy, you will also feel drained until your energy can replenish yourself once again. If you suffer from an illness, it will take you longer for your energy to replenish, thereby making you susceptible to other energy robbers. This is why it is so important to practice protection exercises.

If you have ever played sports or any musical instrument you realize how important practice is. It is no different with psychic protection. You must practice it until it becomes second nature, as easy and natural as breathing. From this moment on, make a commitment to practice the exercises that follow every day, preferably twice a day for 10 minutes. Prepare to spend from a few days to a few weeks practicing one exercise. Your goal is to protect herself in an instant when you need to. Please follow the exercises in the order they are presented. You will also find a list of crystals, infants, candles, and aromatherapy essences you can use to protect yourself and your home surroundings.

To practice psychic self defense it helps to learn to set your own energy field.

note: for those students who are very familiar with distancing the aura and energy field, you can skip this section if you like. I always do suggest that too much protection is never a bad thing. So please consider adding the exercises of protection to your daily spiritual practice regardless of where you are on the spiritual path.


Exercise #1: Sensing your aura

Sit down preferably in a dimly lighted room, Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths allowing yourself to relax. When you feel relaxed, open your eyes and rub your hands together vigorously for about 20 to 30 seconds. Slowly pull your hands apart about an inch, Palms facing each other. Notice of what you feel. Now, pull your hands about 4 inches apart and then bring them back together keeping them 2 inches apart. Do this three or four times. What do you feel? You might feel a tingling sensation or heat. Now, move your hands and inch apart and close your eyes. You should feel both hands tingling. This is your energy field.

Exercise #2: Seeing your aura

To see your energy field or aura, begin with the previous exerciseAnd now touch the tips of your fingers together then slowly pull them apart. You may see Smokey colored lines extending out from each finger. If you can't see this make sure you are practicing this in dim light and try to find a clear colored background. Some people can see with a light colored background others prefer a dark one. Try them both and see which one you prefer. If you still can't see it after multiple tries, wait until a rainy day and try again. A rainy day gives you the perfect lighting you need to see the aura.

Don't worry if you can't see it. Some people have trouble seeing it. If you are one of them, you will have to concentrate on feeling it.

Exercise #3: Feeling your aura

Review exercise number one, then rub your hands together and pull them apart approximately 5 inches. Now, take the index finger of your right hand and bend down until it's pointing directly at your left palm. Movie your finger in a circle. Move your finger in a circle. You will feel a tingling sensation on your left palm as you do this. If you can't feel anything, vigorously rub your hands together and try again, or try later.

Exercise #4: Balance

We spoke of balance in a previous lesson it is beneficial to review it briefly here. If you know how to meditate well, this exercise may not be necessary. What you want to achieve is a state of balance or what some prefer to ask centering or deep relaxation. You're going to focus on three major centers of your body and choose which center gives you a feeling of deep relaxation and balance. This is the place you need to go in order to find balance it before you do any spiritual exercises. Focus on each center in till you find the one that comes your mind the most. You will be using that center for each spiritual practice you do.
